Eyes in the Skies
Drones are a very cool technology, but they can be as dangerous as they can be useful. Dedrone's City-Wide Drone Detection is a product that creates a virtual shield over a defined geographical area. It quickly notifies law enforcement of any drone intrusion.
The system identifies drone locations by monitoring a combination of signals, such as radio frequency, ADS-B data (commonly used in planes), and RemoteID beacons.
This drone detection technology has been put in place to safeguard a variety of places, such as New York City’s energy provider Consolidated Edison, Barcelona’s police force, as well as an unknown number of airports.
It offers two major benefits as opposed to other drone security systems:
Advanced Integration with Existing Security Systems
Dedrone's City-Wide Drone Detection technology is designed to seamlessly integrate with existing security infrastructures. This means it can work in tandem with surveillance cameras, radar systems, and other security measures to provide a comprehensive defense against unauthorized drones. This integration enhances the capability of security personnel to respond swiftly and effectively to potential threats, ensuring a higher level of protection for critical infrastructure and public spaces.
Real-Time Data and Analytics for Proactive Measures
In addition to immediate alerts, the system provides real-time data and analytics. This feature allows for the tracking of drone activity patterns, identifying potential high-risk times or areas. By analyzing this data, law enforcement and security teams can not only respond to immediate threats but also develop proactive strategies to prevent future intrusions. This predictive approach is invaluable in safeguarding sensitive areas against espionage, terrorism, or other malicious activities involving drones.

Young Boy on a Mission to Clean the Seine
Many are enchanted by the Seine's romantic charm in France, but the river now hides discarded wastes of city dwellers. A young Parisian, Rafael Marinho, takes action against this pollution. Every Saturday, he and his father use a powerful magnet on the riverbanks to extract metal debris.
Initially done for fun, Rafael turned this into a regular effort, viewing it as a necessary task neglected by adults. Over two years, they've removed almost 20 tons of discarded metal, including 50 bicycles. Rafael displays his favorite finds in a pop-up museum by the river, each accompanied by an imagined story.
Items like a safe, revolver, and motorbike suggest tales of a fleeing gangster. With over 20,000 Instagram followers, Rafael aims to inspire others. Even President Emmanuel Macron has praised his river-cleaning initiative.

Oldest Ship Burial Unearthed – May Rewrite History!
Credit: Hanne Bryn, NTNU University Museum.
Archaeologists recently dated a Viking ship burial on Leka, identifying it as the oldest in Scandinavia. The Herlaugshaugen burial mound in Namdalen, with its pre-Viking Age origins, challenges traditional classifications.
Surveying the site, archaeologists and a metal detector found evidence of a ship burial around 700 CE, predating the widely accepted start of the Viking Age. The large size of the ship suggests advanced boat-building before the recognized Viking Age onset.
Geir Grønnesby, an archaeologist at the NTNU University Museum, notes the significance of this dating, challenging assumptions about early Scandinavian activities. The location on a vital shipping route indicates the mound's association with an elite merchant society. This emphasizes the early economic role of ships in connecting Norwegian fjords and the continent.
